What to expect?

A few years ago two strangers checked into a coliving in Ponta do Sol. One cooked pasta for the whole house, the other organised everyone's weekends. That house was Banana House, the strangers were Fabio and Juls, and Casa Basilico started right there in that kitchen. (Still not a couple. Stop asking.)

Catarina ran the house for four years and hosted 180+ remote workers. When she moved on in 2026, taking over wasn't really a decision. We kept the soul and changed one thing: no more fixed seasons. Banana House is now open every month of the year. Book one month or six, arrive when it suits you.

The village does a lot of the work. Ponta do Sol is the warmest, sunniest corner of Madeira, small enough that you bump into the same nomads three times a day, with a 1,500-person Digital Nomads Madeira Slack that fills your weekends faster than you can say levada. The weather holds at 18-22°C all year.

Rooms start at €997. Stay 2 months and 10% comes off. 3 or more and it's 20%. A deposit holds your room, the balance is settled a few weeks before arrival.

More than a room!

Look, we get it. You could rent an Airbnb for less. But that's not what you're getting here.

You're getting us. Two community managers living under the same roof, taking care of you 24/7. Something breaks, we fix it. You want to know the best beach, the cheapest SIM card, the place the locals actually eat at? It’s all provided. Hungry after long day at work? Dinner is served with a glass of your favourite wine.

You're getting weekends we've already planned. Surprise trips, boat days, hikes, long lunches in places you wouldn't have found on your own. You don't lift a finger, you just show up. You're getting cooking classes, welcome dinners, spontaneous pasta nights, and a group of people who were hand-picked to make sure the vibe is right.

So yeah, the room is part of it. But the room is honestly the least interesting thing we offer.

Experience/ Lifestyle

Experience/ Lifestyle
  • Daily rhythm. Sunrise hikes if you're brave. Surf at Madalena do Mar. Lunch at one of the village cafés. Focused work in the afternoon. Shared dinners on the balcony as the sun drops. Madeira is good at making you forget what day it is.
  • Weekends. Levadas (Madeira's mountain trails that go on forever), 25 de Abril viewpoint, Câmara de Lobos for the best grilled fish on the island, Cabo Girão skywalk. The Slack community drops new trip ideas every Friday. You won't run out.
  • Food. We cook at home most nights. Italian, occasionally chaotic, always good. When we go out we hit the family-run spots Catarina spent four years curating. Poncha bars, the fish places in Câmara, the bakery doing the best malasadas on the island (we'll tell you which).
  • Community. You share the house with people who actually want to hang out. We make dinner happen, you show up. The 1,500-person Digital Nomads Madeira community handles the rest. Wednesday networking, Saturday hikes, monthly meetups.
  • Climate. 18-22°C year-round, locals call it "Eternal Spring". January and February are the coolest months. The village still sits above 15°C. No real winter, no real heatwave.
