MADEIRA, PORTUGAL

Let us take you to the island they call the Hawaii of Europe. Where Casa Basilico's first plate of pasta was made, and where we still come back as often as we can.

What to expect?

Madeira is our second home and the place where Casa Basilico was born. We picked a special house in the heart of Ponta do Sol, where you wake up to the ocean every single day. Two of our community managers live in the house with you, ready to fix the WiFi, recommend the right hike, or pour you a glass of poncha when you stumble in after work. Juls and Fabio drop in whenever we can — but the people who’ll make your month unforgettable are on the ground, every single day.

Why Madeira? Because the island has more levada hikes than you can do in a year, sunrises above the clouds, whales and dolphins out the front, the Hawaii-of-Europe cliffs everyone has on their bucket list, and the most active digital nomad community in Europe. The food scene punches way above its weight (we wrote about what to eat), the WiFi is built for remote work, and the village runs at the right speed: slow on weekdays, social on Fridays. If you’ve never been, this is the one. If you’ve been once, you already know you’re coming back. Full breakdown in our coliving Madeira guide.

FOOD

More Than Just Meals. We cook at home almost every night. Long dinners, shared lunches, spontaneous pasta nights with the wine flowing. Our community managers cook with you, and when we go out they know exactly where to take you — the spot tourists never find, where the fish was caught that morning.

02

COMMUNITY

Friends, Not Flatmates. You're not just getting roommates. You're getting two community managers living under the same roof, looking after you 24/7. Something breaks, they fix it. You want to know the best viewpoint, the cheapest SIM, the place locals actually eat at? They've got you. Plus a hand-picked group of nomads, plus the wider Madeira community we drag into our Friday parties.

o3

ADVENTURE

Unforgettable Weekends. Madeira keeps surprising you, even on the third visit. Levadas through laurel forests, sunrises above the clouds, the Purple Friday party in Ponta do Sol, boat trips out to spot whales and dolphins, swims in hidden volcanic pools. Our community managers plan the weekends — you just show up. Stories you'll still be telling years later.

More than a room!

Look, we get it. You could rent an Airbnb for less. But that's not what you're getting here.

You're getting us. Two community managers living under the same roof, taking care of you 24/7. Something breaks, we fix it. You want to know the best beach, the cheapest SIM card, the place the locals actually eat at? It’s all provided. Hungry after long day at work? Dinner is served with a glass of your favourite wine.

You're getting weekends we've already planned. Surprise trips, boat days, hikes, long lunches in places you wouldn't have found on your own. You don't lift a finger, you just show up. You're getting cooking classes, welcome dinners, spontaneous pasta nights, and a group of people who were hand-picked to make sure the vibe is right.

So yeah, the room is part of it. But the room is honestly the least interesting thing we offer.
